They started by putting sugar in a pot to make syrup. While they were at it, their friends called them from outside, so they went to the balcony.  

Caught up in the conversation, they forgot about the pot on the stove. When Meryem’s mom smelled something burning, she hurried to the kitchen. To her surprise, the room was smoky, and the pot was completely burnt. When Meryem and Suzan came back to the kitchen, they were surprised and upset. Their sauce got burnt, adding to the frustration of the whole situation.
